All
too many years ago, Sarcastic was published as a fairly scribbly
and smeary photocopied local rag. In some way we had sucked up to
the headmaster’s office staff, ‘cause we were allowed to use the
school’s huge Rank Xerox. This happened when we were in our mid-teens,
and oddly enough the magazine sold pretty good. We took the name
Sarcastic because we aimed to be subversive and polemical
against the government and whatnot. There wasn’t very much of that,
though.
The following is taken from our ‘policy statement’ of that
time: "Sarcastic is a lousy tabloid where we painstakingly attempt
to worm out the alleged good from today’s youth, if it still exists.
Sarcastic deals with sleazy people in sleazy settings, who in one
way or another are relatively ridiculous". Probably we took
ourselves quite seriously then, but we don’t anymore.
More or less everything from these old issues is unusable
now, but since then we have ‘always’ been working on a new publication.
Of course we didn’t know then that it was to appear here, but now
it has. Should the content appear somewhat rambling - well, we’re
aware of it, but it’s not deliberate. We keep on working on it all,
so please pop in again.
Personnel
This mess is pottered with by Janne Virolainen, who draws all
pictures, and Henrik Bylund, who does the layout. We always
write (and wrote) the stories together.
